Pongola farm manager critical after runaway fire
Man suffers substantial burns in runaway fire at a farm in Pongola
A manager of a farm near Pongola was on Wednesday airlifted to a nearby trauma facility after sustaining substantial burns to his body from a runaway fire.
“Paramedics and community members were able to reach the burn victim, navigating through the burning forest.
“Once stabilised by paramedics, the man was carried to the waiting Netcare 911 medivac chopper and airlifted to a level 1 trauma facility for the specialised treatment he requires,” said IPSS Medical Rescue whose advanced life support paramedic based in Pongola attended the scene.
