Empangeni preschool frustrated with ongoing water seepage alongside school grounds since June
WATER woes near a creche in Empangeni continue to infuriate staff and parents, as the issue has seen no resolution since June.
The problem has been bounced between the City of uMhlathuze and uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW), with the latter blaming groundwater.

A recent thorough inspection, using relevant leak detection equipment, by UUW on its DN600 bulk pipeline that runs near Gentle Hearts Daycare and Nursery School and Life Empangeni Private Hospital, found no leaks.
“I am so frustrated. I don’t understand how our school has been here for 15 years and the natural water sources have never been a problem. They say they have done sufficient testing, but how long does that pipe stretch for?” questioned principal Nola Leslie.
