2026 local elections on the horizon
IFP laments on next year's elections at branch inauguration in the Gobihlahla area under uBuka Tribal Authority
Member of the IFP National Executive Committee, Skhumbuzo Dlamini, has told his party members they still have a lot of work to do ahead of next year’s local elections.
Dlamini, who is deployed by his party as King Cesthwayo District mayor, was addressing IFP members during the branch inauguration in the Gobihlahla area under uBuka Tribal Authority in Ward 11 on Wednesday.
He told new branch leaders that they have a responsibility to retain the ward, and remind the electorate about contributions made by the party’s founder, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
“Prince Buthelezi built schools, tertiary institutions such as Unizulu and MUT during the [days of the] KwaZulu Government. During that period, there was no scarcity. He made a conducive environment for investors to create job opportunities in places like KwaMashu, Zakheni, Richards Bay and Mandeni, to name a few,” said Dlamini.
