High food prices call for one garden, one home

South Africans encouraged to grow their own food gardens

In the face of high unemployment and skyrocketing food prices, South Africans need to grow their own food gardens to sustain themselves.

This was the sentiment of the IFP Mthonjaneni Constituency Cluster 2 chairperson, Phumlani Ntombela, who visited Ndabenhle VD in Ward 1 and donated seedlings to allow party volunteers to start their gardens.

“It is imperative to have a vegetable garden at home. Health practitioners always recommend having a healthy diet. Even our late President Emeritus Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi used to encourage us to focus on agriculture.

“In our previous meeting, you requested seedlings, and I noted that with seriousness, and [I now] honour your request. I will be back soon to assist in the inauguration process of this branch,” he said.
