WATCH: Trumpeter hornbill with broken wing undergoing rehab in Richards Bay

Fruit donations, especially paw paw and bananas, are requested to support injured bird's recovery

A YOUNG trumpeter hornbill with a broken wing was rescued at a Richards Bay school on Tuesday.

Initial reports suggested the bird was being chased by children when its rescuers intervened, but this has since been denied.

The bird, nicknamed Coco, is now in the care of a local veterinary practice, where its wing will be pinned and the bird will undergo rehabilitation.

Coco is a feisty bird and is expected to make a speedy recovery.

Being a fruit eater, the vet welcomes donations, especially paw paw and bananas to support Coco’s recovery.
