Close encounter for Ulundi resident who came face-to-face with a 3m black mamba

An Ulundi resident gained a newfound respect for snakes after a close encounter with a 3m black mamba last week.

Health and safety officer Kwanele Shandu was alerted to the snake on Monday, which had taken up residence at the Mozana pump station near Belgrade.

Shandu drove for three hours from Ulundi to Belgrade to identify the snake, which he then reported and sent photos to Snake Pharm founder and snake handler Donald Schultz, to confirm the ID…
