Cable theft leaves Ulundi powerless

Ulundi faces major power outages as cable theft, vandalism cripple infrastructure, disrupt services, and leave residents in the dark.

SEVERAL areas under Ulundi Municipality have in recent weeks experienced prolonged power outages and service interruptions owing to stolen electricity cables and vandalised infrastructureUlundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase said this has not only disrupted service delivery, but has also placed an immense financial burden on the municipality and residents, as well as posed security risks owing to non-functioning streetlights.

Residents are urged to report cable theft to the municipality’s electrical department or the SAPS.
