Unizulu reports arson at student centre

University of Zululand condemns early-morning campus fire incident, launches investigation

THE University of Zululand (Unizulu) has launched an investigation into a fire that broke out on the university premises early on Friday morning.

In a statement published on the university’s social media platforms on Friday, the establishment said the suspected arson incident occurred at around 4am, at the student centre building and the Manzi Mobile Container.

“Any individual found responsible will face the full extent of applicable disciplinary actions and legal consequences as outlined in the university policies and regulations,” said Unizulu management.

“While we recognise all students’ voices, it is important that we also recognise the student governance body’s authority to represent student interests.

“We expect that students respect the property of our university at all times. We are hopeful that the incident will prove that our students continue to demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and pride in our university.”
