Eskom, which was represented by Sipho Ndlovu, implemented load reduction from 5pm to 9pm in Ward 3 as illegal connections resulted in damage to a transformer.
Ndlovu explained the challenges include an increasing number of households in the area and illegal connections, resulting in lost revenue.
“We implemented load reduction to protect our infrastructure and the danger imposed by heavy consumption. We plead with the community to safeguard our infrastructure,” said Ndlovu.
