Esikhaleni woman in fear for her life after brutal attack

Police investigate cases of assault, intimidation and attempted murder in eSikhaleni GBV attack

An eSikhaleni woman miraculously survived a violent stabbing, allegedly by her former partner, at her home on Wednesday morning.

The victim (33), whose identity is being withheld for her protection, says she now lives in constant fear for her life and that of her children.

“Since the incident, we’ve been locking ourselves inside the house. The kids are no longer going to school because he keeps calling and threatening to harm us,” she said.

Recalling the terrifying attack, she said the suspect had jumped over the fence and hid behind the water tank before ambushing her as she stepped out to move her car.

“He came out with a huge knife. I fell to the ground, and he stabbed me in the chest in front of my children. I screamed for help, and my brother and sister rushed to my rescue,” she recounted.

Police confirmed cases of assault and intimidation, as well as attempted murder have been opened. No arrest has yet been made.
