Police intensify law enforcement activities ahead of the upcoming festive season, ten arrested in eSikhaleni operation

In a concerted effort to rid the streets of drugs and crime, police under King Cetshwayo District conducted Operation Shanela in eSikhaleni, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects for various offences.

eSikhaleni is considered one of the drug-ridden townships in the region.

According to district police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase, the operation formed part of intensified law enforcement activities ahead of the upcoming festive season.

“Police in King Cetshwayo District are going all out to enforce the law, leaving no stone unturned. During the operation, seven suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs, while three were nabbed for selling liquor without a licence.

“In addition, seven road traffic summonses were issued as part of efforts to curb accidents during the festive period,” said Shangase.

He added that acting district commissioner Brigadier Mandlakayise Mhlongo commended the members for their dedication and commitment to maintaining law and order.

“Brigadier Mhlongo expressed satisfaction with the results and applauded the officers involved for their continued efforts in ensuring community safety,” said Shangase.
