Life term for girlfriend’s murder

Ngwelezane Regional Court sentences 44-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend

The Ngwelezana Regional Court convicted and sentenced Bhekabakubo Njoko (44) to life for the murder of his girlfriend, Thandeka Buthelezi.

This after the court heard that on 6 December 2024, Njoko, of Oqwalini, near Wombe Church, and Buthelezi (35) had a misunderstanding, with Njoko assaulting her in the presence of their children.

Buthelezi suffered serious injuries, and Njoko rushed her to Ngwelezane Clinic where she was declared deceased on arrival.

A murder case was registered at Empangeni SAPS and the docket was handed to Detective Constable SVC Dube for investigation.

Njoko was denied bail, and the matter was referred to the Ngwelezane Regional Court where he was sentenced to life.
