Four people injured in three-vehicle pile-up on the N2 near Mandeni

Four people sustained critical injuries in a three-vehicle pile-up on the N2 near Mandeni on Monday afternoon.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue, whose paramedics attended the scene, three of the critically injured were from one vehicle, while the fourth was from a second vehicle.

The three were stabilised on scene and transported to hospital by KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

“The driver of the second vehicle was found entrapped within the wreckage, in a critical condition,” said IPSS spokesperson Samantha Meyrick.

“The patient was stabilised by IPSS Medical Rescue advanced life support paramedics, while Mandeni Fire Department worked to extricate him from the wreckage. The driver of the third vehicle sustained serious injuries.

Both patients were transported to nearby healthcare facilities.
