Nongoma mayor promises completion of long-awaited electricity services

NONGOMA Mayor Mbekezeli Zondo officially introduced the contractor appointed to electrify wards 4 and 10.

Zondo, accompanied by his executive committee members, was warmly welcomed by residents who have been waiting years for electricity after the initial electrification project wasn’t completed.

In July, Zondo visited to assure residents that, despite earlier budget shortfalls, the current leadership would prioritise securing funds to ensure the contractor is paid and the long-outstanding work finalised.

Zondo on Sunday emphasised that access to electricity remains one of the most pressing needs for many households, especially as new homes continue to be built across the municipality.

He reiterated that while doing electricity infills to new households in areas that were previously connected may take time, this does not mean the municipality has forgotten them.

“This administration will continue working tirelessly to ensure our people receive the services they deserve. We appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by residents throughout this process,” he said.
