Intelligence-driven operation nabs suspect in possession of three unlicensed firearms

A suspect (49) was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Oshayanyawo area after police recovered three unlicensed firearms.

The arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation carried out jointly by the Ulundi Tactical Response Team and the King Cetshwayo Task Team in the Oshayanyawo area under the Ekombe policing precinct.

Officers seized three unlicensed firearms: an AK47 assault rifle with three rounds of ammunition, an HMC pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition, and a shotgun with 13 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. He was expected to appear in the Nkandla Magistrate’s Court today (Friday).
