What you need to know: Late school admissions and placements in KZN

Parents who have not yet secured space for their children are urged to visit local district offices

Parents and legal guardians who have not yet found space for their children at a KZN school for the 2026 academic year must visit their nearest district or circuit offices.

This plea was made by the KZN Department of Education (DoE), which explained the process for placing pupils.

“The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education appeals to parents and guardians who are seeking learner placement or first-time admission for their children in grades R, 1 and 8 approach their nearest district or circuit offices for assistance.

“This includes any other transfer relating to the other grades,” said KZN DoE spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi.

He encouraged parents and guardians to engage with departmental officials now to facilitate a smooth placement process.

“The department confirms that district and circuit placement committees are fully operational and continue to process placement and admission-related enquiries,” he said.
