‘Police jobs are not for sale’, assures SAPS

Jobseekers in Zululand region warned against falling for police jobs scam

The police in the Zululand Cluster have issued a stern warning to jobseekers in the region, especially the youth, to refrain from entertaining a conman promising disparate young people a job on the force.

Cluster police spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, explained that police jobs are not for sale.

“This conman promises people jobs through the back door. He demands cash upfront and promises them that after paying a huge amount of money, they will be hired and will not need to go through our interview processes or medical examination,” said Gwala.

Gwala explained that this conman poses as a police officer working in Ulundi SAPS.

“He calls himself Captain Xulu, and further seduces his victims by saying that, after paying a bribe, they must go to the police station to get their uniform, before going straight to the police training camp.

“We urge anyone, especially disparate jobseekers, not to pay any money. A police job is not for sale. Shortlisting was done last year after the police advertisement was made public.

“Shortlisted candidates go through several recruitment processes. This guy further advises his victims to not worry about not having a driver’s licence. He is a con artist, and people should not entertain him at all,” she said.
