Richards Bay’s Ashay Sewlall wins support as he competes in Big Brother Mzansi Season 6

Zululanders are rallying behind Richards Bay’s Ashay Sewlall, who is making his mark inside the Big Brother Mzansi house.

The former Richards Bay FC player, now a TikTok content creator and personal trainer, is among 23 housemates competing in Season 6 of the reality show, titled Bazozwa.

Contestants live together for 90 days, nominating one another weekly for possible eviction, with viewers deciding who stays through public voting.

With his dance moves and natural charisma bringing energy to the house, Ashay has drawn strong support from family, friends and fans, who have been spreading the word on social media.

His parents, Indira and Sunil, say they are thrilled and proud to watch their son’s journey unfold on national television.

Describing Ashay as shy and reserved, they said it has been exciting to see him express himself more openly on the show.

Ashay relocated to Durban about four months ago in search of work opportunities. His parents said his social media following grew, bringing requests for freelance personal training and soccer coaching for children, linked to his former professional soccer career.

They explained that Ashay was working long hours when he applied for Big Brother, with events unfolding quickly.

Their last contact with him was shortly after New Year, when they dropped him off at the airport.

“To watch him on TV and see everything unfold has been such an exciting experience for us as a family. We are so proud of him,” they said.

During his first wager task presentation, Ashay spoke about lessons learnt from soccer, including hard work, sacrifice, resilience, positivity and humility.

He also reflected on completing the Comrades Marathon, saying it taught him the importance of mental strength and perseverance.

Ashay said, while he hopes to pursue acting after the show, the experience itself matters most. He paid tribute to his family, including his parents and girlfriend, Tamica Biggar, saying his biggest goal is to make them proud.

Tamica described his audition as a spur-of-the-moment decision, and said she supports him fully as he represents Richards Bay.
