WATCH: Bus, cars collide at Empangeni accident hotspot

No serious injuries reported in Empangeni rush-hour crash, but motorists note almost daily accidents at hotspot intersection.

No injuries were reported in a three-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Biyela and Ukula streets in Empangeni during rush-hour this morning (Tuesday).

However, the accident – involving a bus and two light motor vehicles – is just one in a string of crashes that have occurred at that intersection in recent weeks.

According to a resident who lives nearby, the intersection is a hotspot, with accidents occurring there almost daily.

“I was involved in an accident in the vicinity. I was driving along Biyela Street from the hospital, heading towards the shopping centre, when someone flew down Ukula Street, down the hill, and went into the back of me,” said the resident who asked not to be named.

“Luckily, it wasn’t major, with just some paint scraped off my car, but it was scary, and I now avoid that intersection because people just don’t respect the stop sign.”
