Expect delays on N2 north of Richards Bay as Eskom moves massive transformers
Motorists using the N2 north of Richards Bay should plan for delays as abnormal Eskom loads move in February period.
Motorists and commuters who regularly use the N2 north of Richards Bay should expect possible delays on this route during February.
This as a series of abnormal loads will be transported between Richards Bay and Mpumalanga, from Wednesday, 4 February to 11 February.
Heavy-duty 12/13 axle combinations loaded with two 215 tonne transformers will be transported by Eskom Rotek Industries from Richards Bay.
“While we appreciate that time is valuable and that some people’s journeys will either have to be prolonged or re-routed, we assure you that our intentions are noble and farsighted.
“We request the public to be patient when meeting this on their travelling, and be aware that Eskom Rotek Industries SOC Limited Logistics Services, Multi-Axle is trying its outmost to keep their prolonging of their journeys to a minimum,” said the company.
Travelling times and dates
The company has given assurance that the abnormal loads will travel only during daylight hours of 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
“All driving is undertaken with RTi Traffic Authority Escorts only,” said the company.
Dates of travel: Wednesday, 4 February, Thursday, 5 February, Friday, 6 February, Monday, 9 February, Tuesday, 10 February, and Wednesday, 11 February.
Itelejuba, Pongola, Mkhuze, Hluhluwe, eNseleni and Richards Bay.
