At the SASAA Masters Nationals held in Jeffreys Bay recently, the Zululand Masters team produced the comeback of the tournament.
Angling conditions were extremely challenging and, after lying in 8th position following the second day’s fishing, the team made a strong recovery to finish in 4th place – just outside the medals. A great effort from the guys.

Competition angling
The Zululand Shore Angling Association hosted its third Common Venue round last weekend at The Banks, Mtunzini Beach. Conditions were comfortable, but the water was warm and clean, making big fish scarce.

This week, the South African Shore Angling Association is hosting three national tournaments.
The B and Development Nationals are being held together in Jeffreys Bay, while the Ladies’ Nationals are taking place in Struisbaai.
Unfortunately, Zululand was unable to send a team to the Ladies’ Nationals, but both B and Development teams are competing.
We wish them the very best and look forward to bringing home a medal or two.
On the local front
When conditions are favourable, anglers continue to land guitarfish, butterfly rays, and a variety of sharks and rays.
Some quality rockcod, bronze bream, and other reef species are also being caught.
Those willing to put in the time are being rewarded with fish.
