South African Weather Service (SAWS) issues a warning for severe thunderstorms

According to the forecast, uMkhanyakude, uMfolozi, uMhlathuze and Mandeni will not be affected.

“Severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours, damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail, resulting in localised flooding and damage to infrastructure and settlements, are expected in most places in KZN,” said the SAWS.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to take caution, and avoid travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas, as these may be susceptible to flooding, and there may be sinkholes.
