Two suspects nabbed for possession of drugs

Police operation nabs two suspects for drug possession in Sundumbili area under Ilembe District Municipality

One suspect (24) was arrested during a high density operation in the Sundumbili area on Thursday, and charged for possession of drugs.

Police were patrolling the Bhidla section when they came across a suspicious male.

Ilembe Cluster police communications officer, Priya Nunkumar said the SAPS stopped the suspect and searched him.

“After the search, he was found in possession of whoonga capsules. Police seized about 380 red and white capsules from the suspect. He was arrested and charged for being in possession of drugs, and is expected to appear before the Nyoni Magistrate’s Court,” she said.

In another incident, Nunkumar said an Ilembe District intelligence-driven operation with Umhlali K9 Unit resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect for possession of drugs on Friday.

“The suspect was arrested at a house on Patterson Street. Police searched the suspect and seized one piece of crystal meth, 11 whoonga capsules and one-and-a-half mandrax tablets.

The suspect was arrested and charged for possession of drugs. He is expected to appear in KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court in due time,” she said.
