Local SAPS warn of recruitment scammer
SAPS warns job seekers not to fall prey to police recruitment scam
Police in iLembe District are warning communities of a scammer claiming to assist people in writing psychometric tests for Sundumbili SAPS.
ILembe Cluster Police Communications Officer, Priya Nunkumar says this is a recruitment scam and Sundumbili SAPS is not employing trainees or writing psychometric tests.
“The suspect contacts victims about employment at SAPS, and extracts personal information from victims. The suspect requests payment from the victim to write a psychometric test and sends the victim to Sundumbili SAPS.
“The bogus policeman has contacted several victims and the community are urged to be aware of this scam,” she said.
Nunkumar says all legitimate SAPS recruitment processes are free, transparent and advertised officially through government channels.
“SAPS does not contact individuals via phone calls, social media, or voicenotes to offer jobs in exchange for money,” she said.
The public can verify recruitment claims with the nearest SAPS station or official communication platforms.
Fraudulent activity can be reported to SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
