Easter eggs and everything within
Pause to reflect on new life, selfless love and the seasons changing
Before you chew off the ears of your chocolate easter bunny, let’s crack upon the meaning behind these traditions.
Eggs have long symbolised origin, fertility and birth, since they have life residing in them.
The hare represents both fertility and sacrifice, because of their prolific tendencies that result in up to 20 pups per year, and because they offer themselves as a decoy to protect their young – that is selfless love!
Hares are most active in spring, and in the Northern hemisphere, Easter is celebrated during this season along with blossoming flowers and new life.
However, here in the Southern hemisphere, we are heading into autumn. This is when nature nudges us to slow down, let go of what’s no longer working and contemplate inner reflection.
As the trees lose their leaves, we too are invited to do the same by letting go of old thoughts or habits that no longer serve us.
At its heart, Easter is a time for Christians to remember the ultimate act of selfless love—Jesus dying on the cross and rising again.
So while you continue nibbling on your chocolate, take a moment to pause, press reset, reflect and rejoice.
