Counterfeit goods seized in Durban raid

Hawks seize counterfeit goods in Durban, no arrests made as yet

Counterfeit goods valued at over R390 000 were seized at the freight depot in Durban on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted by Hawks members from the Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit.

“In December, a container was stopped and inspected by Border Police. They drew samples from the container and forwarded them to the brand attorneys.

“It was then confirmed that Galxboy, Hermes, Crocs and Polo products were counterfeit,” said the SAPS in a statement this (Wednesday) afternoon.

“Proper procedures were followed, hence yesterday, Hawks members seized goods valued at R390 400.

“The goods were then taken to the counterfeit depot for destruction purposes. No arrests have been made at this stage.”
