Mobile library donation for local school
Engalangala Primary School pupils receive a donation of a mobile library
Books remain foundational to literacy, and with 81% of Grade 4 pupils unable to read for meaning, they’re a vital asset in South African schools.
For Engalangala Primary School pupils, the road to literacy has been paved by the donation of a mobile library from MANCOSA.
Stocked with over 900 fiction and non-fiction books, the library caters to both foundation and senior phase learners.
Professor Magnate Ntombela, principal of MANCOSA, said this strengthens access to educational resources and supports a culture of reading within the school.
“Education is the most powerful catalyst for change, and access to books is where that journey begins. Through this initiative, we are not just donating a library; we are investing in the dreams, potential, and future of every learner,” said Ntombela.

This initiative forms part of MANCOSA’s Million Books Project in partnership with the Department of Education – a national drive to improve literacy outcomes by increasing access to quality reading materials in underserved communities.
Through this programme, the college parterns with schools across the country to cultivate a culture of reading and learning.
Engalangala principal, Sjabulile Buthelezi, said the mobile library will help build confidence in reading while supporting teachers in delivering more engaging lessons.
“The school extends its sincere appreciation to donors and the Department of Education for their collaboration and continued commitment to advancing education and identifying our school,” said Buthelezi.
