Wednesday crashes keep paramedics busy in Richards Bay
Two serious collisions on the John Ross highway and N2 near KwaMbonambi left several injured and disrupted Wednesday afternoon traffic.
EMERGENCY services were kept busy on Wednesday afternoon after two serious collisions took place, one on the John Ross highway and one on the N2 near KwaMbonambi.
On the John Ross highway, just after 12 noon, a light passenger vehicle and a bakkie collided at the Alton intersection, causing the bakkie to then collide into a stationary truck.

One person who suffered serious but not critical injuries was transported to hospital by Mounties EMS, while a second person who suffered moderate injuries was transported to hospital by KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Meanwhile, on the N2, a bakkie and a light delivery vehicle collided head-on near KwaMbonambi. The accident occurred just after 1pm.
According to reports from the scene, the bakkie rolled and the driver was ejected.
He was stabilised on scene after suffering critical injuries, and rushed to hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle was entrapped and extricated from the wreckage by KZN EMS members, but sustained minor injuries. He was taken to hospital by KZN EMS.
Traffic flow was obstructed on the northbound carriageway of the N2, with motorists diverted over the bridge at KwaMbonambi.
