Water repairs under way in Richards Bay

A contractor is on site, pumping out the remaining water from the hole to fully expose the pipe

THE City of uMhlathuze plumbing team has isolated the line that burst at Mandlazini Reservoir (Richards Bay cemetery), leaving most of the town with either low water pressure or none at all.

According to Ward 3 Councillor Henning de Wet, a contractor is this (Friday) morning on site, pumping out the remaining water from the hole to fully expose the pipe.

“Replacement of the damaged section will commence soon, as all materials are already on site. Once repairs start, we will be in a position to give a more accurate estimated time for repairs,” said De Wet.

Affected areas are Alton, Aquadene, Brackenham, eNseleni and surrounding areas, with no estimated time for restoration.
