6 injured in N2 crash near KwaMbonambi

Two vehicles lose control on the N2 near KwaMbonambi, leaving at least six people injured

One person sustained serious but not critical injuries, while a further five were moderately injured when two vehicles lost control on the N2 earlier today (Monday).

A bakkie and a Land Cruiser carrying schoolchildren and towing a trailer were involved.

The accident took place near KwaMbonambi, causing a partial road closure on the national route as emergency services worked to clear the scene and remove the vehicles.

According to reports from the scene, the driver of the bakkie, which was travelling south, lost control of his vehicle, narrowly missing a northbound bus carrying schoolchildren, but resulting in the Land Rover, which was travelling in convoy with the bus, losing control.

Both the bakkie and the Land Rover went down the embankment.

The children were reportedly en route to Mozambique for a week-long school trip.

Mounties EMS attended the scene, and treated the injured and transported them to hospital for further medical care.
