Major tourism boost as MS Regatta cruise vessel calls at the Port of Richards Bay

The Port of Richards Bay recently welcomed the MS Regatta cruise vessel, marking another important milestone for the region’s growing tourism sector.

The visit highlights the increasing significance of the local port as a destination for international cruise tourism, and reflects Transnet National Ports Authority’s (TNPA) ongoing commitment to supporting tourism development.

The vessel’s arrival brings an influx of visitors eager to experience Zululand’s scenic landscapes, rich cultural offerings and unique local attractions, including Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, Mtunzini trails and Dlinza Aerial Boardwalk in eShowe, among many others.

Welcoming the MS Regatta cruise vessel to the Port of Richards Bay are Winnie Mpanza (acting port manager), Jabu Maivha (acting deputy harbour master) with Captain Vitality Silvachynsky and Emil Nicolas Alexandrescu (vessel GM)

The Port of Richards Bay is working closely with the tourism sector to create enriching experiences for visiting tourists.

MS Regatta is a boutique, R-class luxury cruise vessel operated by Oceania Cruises.

Built in 1998, it was designed for intimate cruising and weighs 30 277 gross tonnes and measures 593 feet in length.

It comfortably carries 670 guests alongside 400 crew.
