Note these road closures for Comrades Marathon 2026 uprun

Here are the routes that will be affected during the Comrades Marathon set to take place on 14 June

Comrades season is under way once again, and as runners carry out final preparations for this year’s Ultimate Human Race on Sunday, 14 June, motorists are urged to take note of road closures in place on the day, from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

As published by the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA), the roads listed below will be closed on Sunday, 14 June.

Rolling closures will begin from midnight on the Saturday onwards, and continue with rolling reopenings as the event passes through areas between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

“Local residents, businesses, spectators and the community at large are urged to plan around these route restrictions and use alternative roads and parking wherever possible,” said the CMA.

“The CMA, in collaboration with local traffic authorities, will make every effort to reopen affected roads as soon as safely possible to do so.

“This will be dictated by operational, safety and event-related requirements, including the last runners clearing sections of the route and clean-up crews passing through to remove race infrastructure.”
