WATCH: Meerensee repair job escalates residents’ sewage nightmare
While the water pipe has since been fixed, the core sewerage failure remains unresolved
AFTER enduring more than a year of sewage issues, Meerensee residents face escalated frustrations following municipal repair work at the corner of Kolstertkring and Loodvislyn.
According to locals, an excavator last week accidentally ruptured a municipal water pipe, twice severed fibre-optic cables, and cracked a stormwater drain.

While the water pipe has since been fixed, the core sewerage failure remains unresolved.
“The large excavation was left open at this busy intersection, creating traffic congestion and safety risks, especially with schools reopening,” said resident Nicoll Joubert.
