R2m worth of dagga found concealed near Pongola River

33-year-old man arrested in connection with dagga found in bushes

Police found 19 bales of compressed dagga, estimated at around R2m, concealed in bushes near the Pongola River on Saturday.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find, and will appear in the Magudu Magistrate’s Court soon.

KZN Police spokesperson, Sergeant Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said police received information that four men were transporting dagga.

“Acting swiftly…police proceeded to the identified location to verify the information. Upon searching the area, members recovered 19 bales of compressed dagga.

“One suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure, while efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects believed to be involved,” she said.
