Damaging winds and waves forecast

SA Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that the damaging winds and waves

As the cold weather bites with snowfall reported along the Drakensberg, damaging winds and waves are being forecast between KwaDukuza and Kosi Bay today (Thursday).

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that the damaging winds and waves could lead to difficulty in navigation, localised disruption of small harbours and ports – placing small vessels at risk of taking on water or capsizing.

Meanwhile, KZN emergency teams are on high alert as snow falls along the Drakensberg area.
The KZN Department of Transport reported light snow between Underberg and Swartberg on Wednesday evening.

“The dedicated team from the Road Traffic Inspectorate is monitoring the snowfall very closely as guided by the Snow Response Plan.

“Graders will move in quickly to remove it before it can accumulate to above 30cm,” said Transport MEC Siboniso Duma.
