Elections 2026: Here’s your voting day checklist

A little preparation goes a long way

WANT a smooth, stress-free voting experience? A little preparation goes a long way. Here’s your quick checklist before heading out:

Before you leave home:


– Confirm your correct voting station
– Check voting hours: 7am to 9pm
– Make sure you’re registered to vote
– Take your valid ID (green ID book, smart ID or temporary ID)

At the voting station:
– Follow instructions from election officials
– Ensure your ballot papers are stamped
– Make only one clear ‘X’ per ballot

Important reminders:


– Your thumb will be inked and this lasts some time
– You can ask for help if you’re unsure
– No photos of your marked ballot (no selfies!)
– Double-check you’ve placed all ballots in the box
– Encourage friends and family to vote too
