TO improve efficiency and accessibility of liquor licensing services, the KZN Economic Regulatory Authority (ERA) has implemented a secure digital system to streamline processes.

To showcase this to the public, the ERA hosted a roadshow on the registration process for the Electronic Licensing Management System (ELMS) portal.

This stopped at Empangeni Civic Centre on Wednesday, and is proceeding to the eShowe Town Hall today (Thursday).

The Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS), KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) and King Cetshwayo District (KCD) LED – Business Regulation were some of the stakeholders at the roadshow.

Nontokozo Mchunu, an attendee, said, “We are delighted about the information shared at this gathering, and are hopeful it will help us. That’s why we came in our numbers, so we can understand how the new system works.”

For licence holders with allrequired supporting documents and sufficient funds in their digital wallet, the system generates a renewed liquor licence certificate immediately upon successful submission, with no manual intervention required.

ELMS portal designed to:

• Enhance the efficiency, accessibility and overall management of liquor licensing services.
• Simplify key licensing processes, including licence applications, renewals, compliance submissions and application status tracking.
• Reduce administrative burdens by enabling licence holders to register and manage their licences through a convenient online platform.
