Strong winds forecast between Port Edward and Richards Bay
SA Weather Service issues warning of damaging winds to impact harbour activities along the coast
Beachgoers, anglers and sailors are warned of damaging winds that will result in significant wave heights of 4 to 4.5m between Port Edward and Richards Bay this (Thursday) afternoon until Friday morning.
The SA Weather Service warns that strong winds may disrupt beachfront activities, cause localised disruptions at small harbours and ports and difficulty in navigating at sea.
“The passage of a cold front followed by high pressure is expected to result in strong southerly to south-westerly winds with average speeds of 30k/h to 40km/h, gusting up to 70km/h, resulting in a high likelihood of minor impacts along the coast and adjacent interior,” the SAWS stated.
