Suspect to appear in Empangeni Magistrate's Court after being nabbed with a 9mm pistol and 32 live rounds of ammunition
The Empangeni Task Team has intensified its efforts to clamp down on the illegal possession of firearms.
The team on Wednesday acted on crime intelligence information that led them to Dumisani Makhaye Village, where a suspect, who was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and 32 live rounds of ammunition, was arrested.

“They also recovered 73 live revolver rounds and two firearm holsters. A 9mm empty magazine was also found in his possession,” said King Cetshwayo Cluster spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase.
The suspect made his first appearance at Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and was remanded in police custody pending further investigation.
He is expected to appear before the same court tomorrow (Thursday) for a formal bail application.
