TSALA ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR A MINING PERMIT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN IN TERMS OF REGULATION 41 OF GOVERNMENT NOTICE NO R326 UNDER THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (Act 107of 1998) as amended 7 April 2017, MINERAL AND PETROLEUM RESOURCES (Act 28 of 2002) AS AMMENDED FOR INTENT TO CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING PROJECT: APPLICATION FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR MINING PERMIT ON PORTION OF PORTION 1 AND PORTION OF PORTION 2 OF SIMNDLANGENTSHA NO 16 956 HU AND THE WHOLE AREA OF FARM BONGASPOORT 16 956 HU, PONGOLA, KZN. Project & Property Description: dolomite mining, extraction of rock and minerals for construction applications. Crushed as an aggregate stone for road layerworks, asphalt paving,ready-mix concrete, and building foundations. Location: The proposed prospecting area is located in the northern part of the Ithala Game reserve and about 52 km east of Pongola. Affected farms and Portions: Portion of portion 1 and Portion of Portion 2 of Simndlangentsha No 16 956 HU and the whole area of farm Bongaspoort 16 956 HU. Listed Activities applied for in terms of the amended 2014 NEMA EIA Regulations, (as amended): Listing Notice 1: Activity 21: Any activity including the operation of that activity which requires a mining permit in terms of section 27 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002), including associated infrastructure, structures and earthworks directly related to the extraction of a mineral resource, including activities for which an exemption has been issued in terms of section 106 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002) Listing Notice 1: Activity 27: The clearance of an area of 1 hectares or more, but less than 20 hectares of indigenous vegetation, Proponent: Zululand District Municipality Date of Notice: (25 June 2026 to 25 July 2026) The proposed mining application is subject to a Basic Assessment (BA) Process and a Section 21 Water Use License Application. The registration timeframe for BA Process is 30 days from the date of the placement of this notice. All registered I&APs will be allowed 30 days to comment on the Basic Assessment report upon release of the documentation.
