Smashing their way to the top

8 tennis players were selected for the Zululand Primary Schools tennis team.

JUNIOR players from all corners of the region competed eagerly on Saturday in the Zululand Primary Schools’ tennis trials held at the Richards Bay Country Club and at the Richards Bay Primary School courts.

Keen entrants came from eShowe, Pongola, Mtunzini, Richards Bay and Empangeni in an attempt to smash and volley their way into the Zululand team.

After a host of gruelling encounters which consisted of long rallies, big serves and lethal forehands, eight players were selected to represent Zululand at the KZN trials later this month in Pietermaritzburg.

The Zululand Primary Schools’ team selected is: Reuben de Bruyn (Grantleigh), Franco Els (Grantleigh), Joe Hill (Mtunzini), Tristan Engelbrecht (Holy Childhood), Emiley Cobbold (Mtunzini), Sayuri Naidoo (Grantleigh), Kirsten Johnson (Grantleigh) and Abby Talmage (Mtunzini).
