Mental strategies put to the test

BOARD masterminds came out to test their strategies at the King Cetshwayo District Anniversary Chess Tournament held at Richards Bay High School on Saturday and Sunday.

About 120 players competed across two divisions in age categories ranging from U10 to adult.

This tournament was used by competitors to hone their skills ahead of the district team selection for the South African Junior Chess Championships in Boksburg from 16 to 24 December.

The district team will be selected at the King Cetshwayo Championships on 19 and 20 May at Richards Bay High School.
