KCCD beat Warriors and the wet pitch
Another great win for KCCD, who have dug themselves out of a deep hole after a dismal start to the season
THE middle order ‘pitched’ in as KCCD won a low-scoring KZN Premier League match against African Warriors CC on Saturday.
With days of rain having flooded the Kingsmead Oval, it was almost a miracle that any action was possible, although the game was reduced from 50 to 39 overs after a late start.

Warriors won the toss and put the Zulus in to bat on an almost unplayable pitch that gave the bowlers all the advantage.
This was soon evident as openers Stephan Joubert and Yadav Dayaram were both back in the hut with only three runs on the board.
However, Cameron Atkins (10), Liam Kench (10), Connor Lendrum (19) and Jason Redinger (13) knuckled down to add a touch of respectability to what was always going to be a low total, given the conditions.

KCCD were eventually dismissed for just 80 runs, with Knowledge Vilakazi’s 4/14 off 3.2 overs the chief cause of their demise, and the rest of the poles shared by five of his teammates.
However, KCCD’s meagre total proved more than enough as their bowlers tore through the Warriors’ line-up, dismissing them for just 54 in 15.1 overs, and victory by 26 runs.
Asavela Khambule fared well with the willow, making 20 runs before being run out by Connor Lendrum.
Grant Jordan was the star with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 33 runs off 7 overs while skipper Joubert was as deadly as ever with 3/18 off 8.
Another great win for KCCD, who have dug themselves out of a deep hole after a dismal start to the season.
