“A big thank you to everyone who made this day special, fun, and for raising funds for Hospice,” said ZHA GM Christine Samuel.

Funds raised will go towards Zululanders in desperate need of palliative care.

“The youngest player, Owami Hammond (7) showed the adults a thing or two. He is brand new to the game, but managed two game wins with points scored for his team,” said an impressed Samuel.

She also thanked the sponsors, players, helpers and Sr Madeleen van Niekerk from Medipark-uMhlathuze Pharmacy for the wellness checks.

Thanks were extended to the Empangeni Bowling Club for preparing the greens and allowing for an early prep: Ray Cross (greenkeeper), Poens Jacobs (barman) and Waldi Khun.

Results – top 5 from the 10 teams:

1. Waldi Kuhn, Shaun Tidbury and Poens Jacobs

2. Japie van Staden, Michael Campbell and Andrew Campbell

3. Matthew Hughes, Gareth Campbell and Dominique Coetzee

4. Mike Els, Richard Scott and Ray Cross

5. Andy Hammond, Charl Koen and Owami Hammond (7 years old)
