Get ready for cricket’s Big Blast

Winter T20 cricket comp gets under way in Empangeni this weekend

The annual KCCD President’s Blast T20 cricket competition is good to go this weekend, with one game on Saturday and two on Sunday at Addison Park in Empangeni.

The innovative social tournament honours the union’s presidents, both past and present, and also has as the goal introducing new players and encouraging high school stars to join local cricket clubs.

To make matters more interesting, each of the six teams must include 2 vets, 3 premier league players, 2 rookies and a primary school player.

This balance ensures close competition as well as encouraging big hitting, skilful bowling and great fielding.

The tournament runs from now until the weekend of 7 September and good spectator support is encouraged.

At 1pm on Saturday, the Carmen Cutters will take on the Harrison Hat Tricks, while the Sunday 9am encounter will see 2024 champions Geringer Googlys up against the Debufanos Dibbly Dobblys.

At 1pm, the Fuzzy Fifers will match up against the McIlrath Maidens.
