Local action
Reports from the shoreline show exciting activity:
• Shad have been plentiful along Hlobane and St Lucia beaches, with anglers taking advantage before the season closes at the end of September
• Natal stumpnose are biting well in the Zinkwazi area, with prawn and crayfish proving to be the best baits
• The flatfish season is under way, with giant guitarfish and rays showing up at Hlobane, Nyokanjane, Port Durnford and Mtunzini. Fresh shad, mackerel, or bonito baits are the go-to for targeting these powerful fish
