Stallions gallop to quarter final

Milford FC race to Nedbank Cup quarter finals with a 3-0 demolition of Mkhabathi FC this past weekend

It lacked the mass crowds and glamour of Friday night’s NRB-AmaZulu clash, but the stakes were just as high for Milford FC as they raced to a place in the Nedbank Cup quarter finals with a 3-0 demolition of Mkhabathi FC on Sunday afternoon.

The ABC Motsepe League entourage arrived full of confidence and gave good account of themselves in a goalless first half, but it was a clash of energy versus class as the Stallions methodically ground them down to a point of little resistance.

With the bit between their teeth, Milford won going away after goals by Bulelani Sigomoshe – a power 67th minute header from a corner – and Siphosethu Ndlabi, who hammered home Sigomoshe’s fine cross from close range in the 76th.

Tonny Mbunga added the third soon before the final whistle, again feeding off an excellent cross from the left by Sigomoshe (3-0).

By this time, the Mkhabathi fans who had arrived with high hopes were already leaving the stands to get the best seats on the bus back to Pmb.

For the Stallions, current log leaders in the National First Division, their season just keeps getting better.
