Marsha eyes record-breaking Milan mission
Marsha 'The Machine' Muller heading to Italy for Gomu 48hr World Championship
Richards Bay’s golden girl, Marsha ‘The Machine’ Muller is heading to Milan, Italy to once again put Zululand on the map at the Gomu 48hr World Championships.
She plans to not only retain her South African and African record, but break it once again to better the 304km she achieved last year.
The 2026 48hr World Championships are set to be held from 27 – 29 March. But she needs your help to get there.
Stacey Pretorius has put together a fundraising run for anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, to enter to help Marsha on her way to setting yet another phenomenal record.
“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for always supporting me and my crazy antics!” said Marsha.
“This time I’m going to see if I can do 200 miles (321.86km).”
The run
The Laps for Marsha fundraiser is set for 5am on Saturday, 7 March.
Whether solo or in groups of up to four, on road or trail, participants have two-and-a-half hours to do as many laps as they can.
A kind of mini-version of what Marsha will do for 48 hours at the event, but in relay format.
Marsha’s crew, headed up by Stacey, will mark out one 3.5km trail route and one 5km trail route, both starting from Zululand Kayak Club.
The timer will start at 5am, and each team will do as many laps as they can in the allotted time.
Only one person per team can run the loop at any given time, in a relay-type effort.
Entry fee is R250 per person, with all proceeds going to Marsha’s trip to Milan.
Prizes are up for grabs for the winners of each category.
