KwaThema soccer stars join top clubs

The two up-and-coming KwaThema soccer stars have joined two of the top soccer teams in the country.

The boys’ soccer journey started at the age of eight.

They both played for Ayoba-Yo-Youth Soccer Academy.

Andile and Samukele Nkosi, both 15 years old, say they see their future shining bright in soccer.

Andile has been playing for the Wits University Soccer Academy for three years while Samukele joined the Orlando Pirates Academy three months ago.

Sipho Mabena, Samukele’s father says he noticed that his boy had a talent when he was six years old.

“He used to make a soccer ball for himself using plastic bags and kick it around the yard,” says Mabena.

He says to convince Samukele to play soccer in school was not a challenge for him because it is the sport that Samukele also chose for himself.

Encouraging other soccer stars of tomorrow, Samukele says respect goes a long way.

“If you respect others and your work, you will get the best results at the end,” he says.

He thanks Ayoba’s technical director, Innocent Mayoyo for believing in him.

“Mayoyo gave me a chance to show my talent and I am proud that my soccer journey started in the township where I was born,” says an excited Samukele.

Before joining the Wits Academy, Andile was playing for Jealous Down after he left Ayoba a few years ago.

“My success in soccer will not mean that I worked hard but will be all praise to the local teams that discovered my talent and ensured that I shine for the country to see,” Andile says.

Speaking about the boys’ talent, Mayoyo says he is proud to have produced the best players from the township.

He believes that the success of the young boys from Kwatsaduza means recognition and more respect for the soccer talent that exists in Kwatsaduza.
