Woman seriously injured after vehicle leaves road in Duduza, rescue teams free trapped occupant
A woman was seriously injured and a man sustained slight injuries after a vehicle lost control and left the road in Duduza. Firefighters used specialised rescue equipment to free one of the occupants.
Duduza – The City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services confirms responding to a motor vehicle accident on July 5 at approximately 05:41.
According to DEMS media liaison officer, Tikkie MacDonald, the Emergency Centre received a distress call and immediately dispatched firefighters from Duduza Fire Station to the scene.
“On arrival, crews found one motor vehicle that had lost control and left the roadway. One of the patients was still trapped inside the vehicle and specialised rescue tools had to be used to extricate the patient from the wreckage.
“The female passenger sustained serious injuries and a male driver sustained slight injuries,” he explained.
“Both patients were stabilised on scene by paramedics and transported to a nearby provincial hospital for further medical treatment.”
